London to Dover : 150 kms... and 10kms!!!
I did it and arrived in good time at the ferry in Dover. However I added another 10k because I and another guy got lost! The arrow indicating the way had been blown by the wind in the wrong direction ... but still I managed to get lost!
I was 6 hours on the bike. It was good fun and I am happy with my level of fitness. All the training seems to have paid off! It was hilly but nowhere near as steep as around Grenoble and never for as long. The UK road though are dire. They're in a terrible state. I'm looking forward to riding on the French roads... although hopefully we won't ride on the famous "pavés" I have heard of in the north of France!
We are about 100 cyclists. There's one guy doing it with a shopping bike! He even has a shopping basket with the union jack flad on the front! He's fun but really good as well! I'll have to take a picture!
Now off onto the ferry and planning a good night sleep on the other side. And maybe a cheeky beer beforehand!
Good night and thanks for following my journey!
